Constitution Records Opera Theatre takes great pleasure in announcing the staged presentation of the comic chamber opera A Game of Werewolf by Timothy Ayers-Kerr, 7 PM, Nov. 26, 2022 at the Seminole Theatre, 18 North Krome Avenue, Homestead, FL 33030. This is the debut performance of this fun-filled and tuneful work in South Florida. Additional works to be performed include famous arias from The Merry Widow, Pirates of Penzance, and Perichole, among others.
The featured performers in A Game of Werewolf include Soprano Samantha Riling-Lopez, Soprano Lauren Williams, Mezzo-Soprano Yi-Chun Sarah Tsai, Bass-Baritone Johan Hartman, Baritone Jose Vasquez and Tenor and Composer, Tim Ayres-Kerr. While still in their 20s, all of the performers have considerable professional performance experience in solo roles as well as in opera choruses. Some of the ensembles that they have performed in include Sarasota Opera, Opera Tampa, Constitution Records Opera Theatre, Opera Orlando and Miami Lyric Opera. Solo roles that they have performed in include such operas as Carmen, The Magic Flute, La Traviata, La Serva Padrona and Die Fledermaus.
Constitution Records was established by conductor and violinist David O. Hartman in 2017 to present in recordings as well as live performances, great classical vocal and instrumental works performed by young American artists of promise.
The Game of Werewolf is a contemporary opera written by the Boston based composer and tenor, Timothy Ayers-Kerr. The story is based on the popular party came Werewolf and follows a town haunted by nightly werewolf attacks. The composer intended to challenge the “high-brow opera culture” with this work and has described it as “a mix of Gilbert and Sullivan meets Phantom of the Opera”. The Game of Werewolf won the Austin, Texas based One Ounce Opera competition in 2018.
Miami, FL (Oct. 13, 2022) Mostly Baroque is pleased to announce the performance of the secular cantata, “In the Light of Angels” by Thomas Pasatieri at 7:00 PM, Oct. 25, 2022 at the Musical Arts Studio School, 15015 SW 24th Street, Miami, 33185. The Mostly Baroque Chamber Orchestra will be joined by the combined treble choruses of the Miami Arts Studio. Artistic Director David Hartman commissioned Maestro Pasatieri in 2012 to compose this new work. The world premiere of this work was performed in 2013 in Glastonbury, CT.
Featured solo performers include international opera star L’Eglise Gutierrez, Miami’s wonderful countertenor Edgar Sanfeliz, and Mostly Baroque principal woodwind soloist, Peggy Hartman. Maestro Gutierrez has performed in many of the leading opera houses in Europe and has been a stellar lead role performer with Florida Grand Opera on many occasions. Maestro Sanfeliz has sung extensively in South Florida, Cuba, and beyond and has collaborated with Mostly Baroque on many occasions. Maestro Hartman is a frequent soloist with Mostly Baroque and will perform the beautiful oboe d’amore solo movement in this work.
Mostly Baroque was established by conductor and violinist David O. Hartman in 2021 as a successor organization to The Mostly Baroque Players which was established in 1996. Together, both organizations have performed scores of concerts since their initial founding. Recently, Mostly Baroque gave a critically acclaimed performance of the comic chamber opera, “La Serva Padrona”.
The words to “In the Light of Angels” are drawn directly from several books of the Bible including Psalms, Daniel, Luke and the Revelation of the Apostle John. Maestro Pasatieri dedicated this work to “The Glory of God”. Maestro Pasatieri has had a stellar career composing operas in English and prior to this as one of the most important orchestrators in Hollywood in recent years with such movies as “Pretty Woman”, “Shawshank Redemption” and “Finding Nemo” to his credit.
